ABOUT THE STUDIO

Private viola and violin lessons are available for children age 7+. Lessons are held at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Office in Downtown Mesa (Country Club Drive & Main Street). Plenty of free street parking is available in front of the building and surrounding areas. Online lessons are also available upon request.
Please contact me to inquire about current lesson availability!

Lessons are tailored to each student's individual goals and interests. We focus on learning fun solo music as well as technical exercises such as scales, arpeggios, and etudes (music written specifically to help you get better at your instrument). Each year we have two studio recitals, one in the fall and one in the spring. Students are also encouraged to participate in local ensembles and other performance opportunities.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I help self-motivated, engaged violists and violinists express themselves through music they love and gain confidence in their playing.

I love working with students who are excited and curious about music and bring lots of questions, suggestions, and ideas to their lessons. I aim to make lessons an engaging, interactive experience where we work together to achieve your goals.

Playing an instrument requires as much mental ability as it does physical. In my teaching, I enjoy connecting these two elements—we will not only work on how to play correctly, but also learn why it works. This teaching style promotes critical thinking and develops the skill of efficient, thoughtful practice.

In my studio, students enjoy a positive, encouraging environment where they can learn free of judgment. My own experience taking private lessons has heavily influenced this aspect of my teaching. As a student, I was very lucky to have incredibly supportive teachers who encouraged me to work hard and play at a high level, while also fostering my love for music. My goal is to provide the same balance for my own students.
